Suckers

"'We must never stop believing in a country called New Zealand' [says Winston Peters launching his campaign for another ministerial limousine]... 'Remember who you are New Zealand,' he blathers]...

"Classic Winston Peters nostalgia: 'Let's remember who we are' stuff wrapped up in patriotic packaging.

"Those lines usually come out during speeches about immigration, Maori co-governance, 'wokeness,' or foreign influence. It's pure emotional rhetoric designed to stir up a sense of loss and cultural erosion while conveniently ignoring how his own policies have shifted with the wind over the years.
"Personally I'm still waiting for the abolition of Maori seats that he promised was a bottom line in 2017.
"Suckers."
