"It’s all just for show. Trump’s supporters get to see him being mean to foreigners, and that’s enough for them.
"In short ... mass deportations ... and the tariffs—again, so far—are following the script I had hoped for [i.e., a phantom menace], while still finding it annoying. Donald Trump likes watching TV and being on TV. He likes attention and an exciting script. But he doesn’t care much about details or substance, so long as he’s at the exact geometric centre of attention and gets supplicating phone calls from foreign leaders, and he can squeeze it all into a narrative that makes him look like a tough guy. And his supporters love this and are very happy with it.
"This fits a general pattern you might remember from his first administration. Trump has the ambitions of a dictator but not the attention span, the focus, or the attention to detail necessary to impose it.
"Alas, not everyone around him suffers from this disability."~ Robert Tracinski from his post 'A Coup Within a Coup'

"Trump has the ambitions of a dictator but not the attention span"

Trump's first EO's have been around 'enforcing' free speech as foundational to the Republic - day 1, his first priority - destroying cancel culture, returning meritocracy via destroying DEI, a lovely touch to affirm reality by no men in women's sports, etc, and Elon is finally making transparent the largess and fraud of big government spending in readiness for gutting the state bureaucracies (already started). He forms relationships with those nations with strong Western values, Milei, Netanyahu, et al while punishing the tyrants in Venezuela, today giving refugee status to white Afrikaans farmers who farms are being nationalised while stopping all aid to that corrupt regime, and sending broadside after broadside over the Marxists in UK and throughout EU, while bolstering relations with the great Prime Minster Giorgia Meloni, while (via Elon) pushing AfD to save Germany.
I could go on and on.
That's a very strange dictator wannabe I have to say.
I'm of the view this is a Golden Age presidency, it's a game changer for the Woke West, look at all the pressure on our own government around the foolishness of net zero compliance, our antisemitic government record regarding Israel. This is very different to his first term, Trump has a great team around him delivering results in what is damn near paradigm change in terms of the modern bureaucracy bound politick, and here's the other thing: it's proving Trump is no intellectual slug at all.
I'm loving it.
But gee, it might not be quite perfect. Perhaps put a post up on the state of US today on a Harris win? What a disaster: I think that would have been the final capitulation of the West into the abyss. We've finally got a rearguard action against the dross and creeping tyranny of this 21st century.
AS far as Libertarians are concerned, life is short: you have to back something when the alternative is pure evil. And you know Mr Burke: '"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Again, I obviously, am no longer a Libertarian: on a political level they are fecking hopeless: ... Unless you class Xavier as one: I'd love to see him US president, but he would never make it through US electoral system, that is never going happen, plus perhaps the great Land of the Free, actually needs that most un-Libertarian thing: a patriot.
Wish I could edit my typos, but it is what it is.
