ECONOMICS FOR REAL PEOPLE: Classical Versus ‘Austrian’ Schools of Economic Thought

Here’s the note from our friends at the Auckland Uni Economics Group about this week’s discussion:

We'll be talking in later weeks about the differences and the debate between Hayek and Keynes.
This week, we'll be looking at the differences between the Classical School of Smith, Say, Mill and Ricardo, and the Austrian School of Menger, Von Mises, Hayek and Bohm-Bawerk--and explain the importance of the debate for understanding economics today.
And we'll conclude by pointing out some of the similarities between the schools, and give some pointers to reconciling the differences.

        Date: Thursday, June 13
        Time: 6pm
Room: University of Auckland Business School, Owen G Glenn Building, Room 215 (Level Two)

All welcome. We look forward to seeing you there.
