Co-governance?

"If co-governance denotes a political system in which an indigenous people and the descendants of the settlers who joined them wrestle together with the legacies of colonisation – as free and equal citizens – then we already have it."
~ Chris Trotter, from his post 'What is Co-Governance?'

I think Chris is missing the arguments that are being made against his vision, and it's a lot deeper than mere anti-colonialism.

It's actually the worship of tribal societies, dating back to at least Rousseau, as described in this superb essay/lecture from an Australian anthropologist back in 1997, posted over at the Basset, Brash & Hide blog
