"The use of military force has accompanied [Putin] every step along the way"

“One thing that you get from looking at the whole sweep of Putin’s two decades in power is to understand that, for him, the use of military force has accompanied every step along the way of his journey to become Russia’s longest-serving leader since Josef Stalin."
~ Susan Glasser, columnist at The New Yorker and co-author of Kremlin Rising, from her 'Frontline' interview

There’s a contingent of those on the right who don’t care about this, or even see it as a good thing. To them their only enemy is the West under the influence of the left, and will regard any enemy of their enemy as their friend. As Yaron Brook recently said, when commenting on the useful idiots Candace Owen, Tucker Carlson, and to some extent Trump have become for Putin, “once you place the left as your only target you hand over power to evil men”. Putin appeals to them to some degree for the same reason Hitler appealed to many Germans: his nationalism, anti-leftist rhetoric, and supposed strength against their enemies. They are ignorant to the fact these “strongmen” are as bad or worse than their enemies, and behind their illusion of strength lies weakness.
