Great Wave - Hokusai

Probably the most well known Japanese woodblock print. The balanced asymmetry and simplicity of the composition was to have a profound effect on western art.

I've got a few woodblock originals. My favourite is a Yoshitoshi Mori of a man and a woman embracing. You have to stare for quite a while to make out the content of it. It's brown and black.

As a young child I used to look at it and simply see the outline. Back then I called it "The Pooh."
