It was deducted from his ministerial pay as is the standard practice.
As Adolf F says...
"He has already paid for the perk through a lower salary. The Remuneration Authority deducts 100% of the average value of the international travel perk (around $6,900 per MP) from their salary. The Authority also deducts around $4,000 from MPs salary to cover the 45% of spouses domestic travel deemed of personal benefit.
Make no mistake about it. The tax payer did not pay one penny toward Ms Crome's expenses. Mr Hide paid the lot. The trip cost no more than $6,000 - a far cry from $25 k of the sloppy and mischievous Caramel Mung-Goo from the Herald."
Now unless you think that MP's should work for free then there is no issue.Rodneys exonerated and he's the one who worked to dump this perk and just have all travel paid for straight out of an MP's pay....simple.
Rodney's low fat diet has clearly deprived his brain of vital nutrients. Campaign against said perk one second, milk it like a cash cow the next. How did he think this would look?
@James: You can tell the truth, or you can spin. If you want to spin to us, that's fine because we can just discount it for what it is: blatant deception in defence of just another politician caught with his trotters in the trough.
But I trust that in the privacy of your own soul that you really do know the truth, because only a moron could believe what you've just written here.

Unfortunately, like it or not, we already are the proud owners of the full set.
The problem is that many in the set, like your examples, are definitely not the full quid.
But it seems Rodney DID pay for his partners travel and it was only about $6000...not the $25000 the Herald claimed.

Yeah, but James is a moron. He's a rat gobbler as well.
