Quote of the day: On alcohol and joy

The timorous mineral water and “better not” attitude to life rather than the “why not?” attitude seems to be among the saddest of the health postures – a loss of joy, hedonism and self=exploration.”

The same is said about vegetarians and joy in the foodie world. Not trying to be particularly argumentative, but top vege chefs like Simon Rimmer are never vege themselves.

They claim one cannot be a food lover and be vegetarian. The loss of joy, hedonism etc etc.

I know vegetarianism is not in the legislative eye of the govt, but the point you are making still stands in respect of it.

Don't know who Simon Rimmer is, and don't know who "they" are, but I can tell you I never feel any loss of joy at not consuming dead animals.

Quite the opposite -- leaves more room for more flavours. :-)

Reality is an illusion that occurs due to the lack of alcohol.
