Students at a Wellington school have been given an excellent lesson in the law of unintended consequences.
Naturally, the lesson itself is unintended:
Healthy eating guidelines for tuck shops have had the opposite effect at Wellington High School - with pupils feasting on daily sausage sizzles and pies from the local dairy.
Let's hope it's a lesson that stays with them. It's still eluded most of their 'betters' in parliament.
(PS: Very pleasing too to see there's one dairy owner in the country that is doing well.)

Yeah, good reading link for the unintended consequence. A quote from that article that says:
His final case was the "self-defeating prediction." Here he was referring to the instances when the public prediction of a social development proves false precisely because the prediction changes the course of history. For example, the warnings earlier in this century that population growth would lead to mass starvation helped spur scientific breakthroughs in agricultural productivity that have since made it unlikely that the gloomy prophecy will come true.
Does this apply to the global warming mass hysteria of today?
falafulu: interesting question. I guess those kind of questions can only be answered in hindsight.
