"May your chains sit lightly upon you..."

A quote today for voters everywhere, a point made by Sam Adams in 1776 before helping to throw out a tyrant...
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom -- go from us in peace. We ask not your counsel or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands that feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were even our countrymen!

Here's another quote:

We look upon authority too often and focus over and over again, for 30 or 40 or 50 years, as if there is something wrong with authority. We see only the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don’t see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do.

From that authoritarian ass Rudy Giuliani. Source http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A01E2D9173CF933A15750C0A962958260

Scary huh.

Yep, scary. Which is why I posted it for discussion a few weeks back. ;^)

Just damn! I'll have to go back to studying this blog as if were gospel I guess ;-)

BTW the thumbnails on your Organon site under the Projects link don't open - 404 Forbidden. They must be rude or something.

Well I'm just devastated to learn that you might spend time elsewhere ... whoever you are. Although time spent at the Organon site does of course earn credits.

Links over there BTW are being updated with new naughtiness, but realistically by the sounds of it not until after Xmas, :-/

I went looking for the quote for a post I wanted to do and stumbled upon your post here. The difference between the Progressive Lemming Brigade (typically good, but misguided people)is that they are ceding personal sovereignty in exchange for a master offering them what is not feasible. Thomas Sowell had a recent editorial about the liars who promise the impossible in exchange for the IDIOT (In Denial Intensely Obscuring TRUTH) vote. Conservatives recognize the fantasy which has never worked in the history of the world and demand that we remain with the unique privelege of having the opportunity to risk and work hard for our dreams or to have the privelege of investing in or working for an entrepenuer who does risk and work hard to achieve his dream.
Free Enterprise has a self clensing mechanism which culls those who either do not meet a need at price which the market will bear or who mismange their business. The government uses its taxing authority to cover its mistakes and grow larger.
The Progressives have poisoned our children with rewritten history and channeled good people into believing in the purveyors of the fantasy. We need school vouchers and home schooling promoted to counter the indoctrinators.
