Baa Baa ~What~ Sheep?

From the dripping-wet-politically-correct file comes news that 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' has ben black-balled to "avoid causing offence":

ANONOVA NEWS: Nursery school bosses [in Oxfordshire, UK] ordered the words of the rhyme Baa Baa Black Sheep to be altered to Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep. The change was made to avoid offending children after teachers examined the nursery's equal opportunities policy. Stuart Chamberlain, manager of the Sure Start Centre in Oxford, could not explain why children might be offended...

Snow White's dwarves and Humpty Dumpty have also got the treatment "so as not to upset children," and "dangerous" conkers have been banned from some British playgrounds.

Finding offence where none was ever found, and danger where it isn't. It's not just bad poetry and bad judgement. It's just bloody stupid.

  1. Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep?

I can't believe the nursery school teachers overlooked the needs of their gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, intersex, takatapui, and fa'afafine students.

  2. Poor Humpty Dumpty.
He was a prefabricated giant trebuchet (Catapult) so I don't think he would have suffered from his fall off the castle wall during the War of the Roses.

  3. This is good, the kids graduating from this kind of education will be soft, incapable of competing against tough rivals, and utterly unprepared for life's true harshness. So those of us not disadvantaged by such crap will rule the roost so much longer.
