I have to say that I'm enormously impressed by the benevolence of fellow bloggers. In my own foray into this marketplace of ideas, fellow bloggers have wished me nothing but success, and for that I can only thank them all and return the favour.
So a big thank you to beNZylpiperazine, No Right Turn, Sir Humphrey's, Freudian Slippers, Aaron Bhatnagar, Duncan Bayne, Greg Stephens at NZ Political Comments, the good folk at SOLOHQ and, last but by no means least, DPF.

I hope this won't be taken the wrong way...
I agree that the political bloggers in NZ tend to be very collegial. That's good. That's very good.
But on the other hand they don't seem to engage each other. They quote the other blogs they approve of. But I haven't seen bloggers blogging a debate, or pointing out each others mistakes. I wonder sometimes if most bloggers read the blogs they disagree with, or if it's all a matter of preaching to the converted.
Comments are fine, but for a lengthy debate on ideas you really need to two blogs.
It would be nice to get engagement for exchange of ideas (I think this might improve quality, but reduce quantity, of posts). But getting engagement without losing goodwill... that would require hard work by all. And goodwill is hard to regain if you lose it.

Well, I used to - I had some quite good exchanges with Nigel Kearney, NZPols, Running Blog Capitalist and Sock Thief, not to mention Holden Republic and Greyshade - but I just haven't had time to read everything lately.
This is something else I'm working on correcting...

I've found that in the blogosphere it is very easy to avoid comment on the hard stuff. I frequently comment on DPF's blog but get little response to the points I raise, if they are difficult to refute - I get the sense many commenters (and less so with actual bloggers I suspect) are looking for easy blood. I
've given up on Rodney Hide's blog entirely for similar reasons.
Well, I'm not looking for easy blood here. I'm hoping for good debate.
