"It’s really the case that looking out for number one, which we’ve been told as a society is selfish and that selfishness is a bad thing, actually puts you in a healthier frame of mind and makes you a better person to be around." #QotD

It looks like this new book takes off from the older book by a different author 'The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck'. Regarded as core reading by many on the manosphere. The sentiment's a good one. We only have so many fucks to give, and we should spend them wisely.

Whilst increasingly adopting this sentiment, I am conscious of balancing it, so it hopefully doesn't tip over into being a grumpy old prick. Age gives you experience, and the potential to know almost instantly the right thing to do at times. Your life lessons become automated (assuming you've actually learnt something in the preceding years), and you have less tolerance for anything that departs from it. You have this advantage over the youth. But recognize too that youth have the ability to adopt new ideas and new practices with greater ease. So don't always assume their way (which may be different to yours) is wrong, and may in fact be worth giving a fuck about, even if at first it seems alien.
