When Trump was elected in the USA I pointed out to my Democrat friends that the main reason they should worry is that they spent the past 8 years doing everything they could to give Obama dictatorial powers. Well, sometimes you lose. Sometimes the other side wins elections. And when they do, that power transfers to your opposition--and they will not hesitate to use it.
Even if you like the policies advocated by the person pushing for power to make your choices for you, you should always oppose it--because eventually you WON'T like the ruler's policies.
