Friday Morning Ramble: The “It’s not a war if the President says it’s not a war” edition

Gareth Morgan, the man who calls the prisoners of the North Korean state  "wonderfully engaged, well-dressed, fully employed and well informed” calls Liberty Scott ignorant for challenging the idiocy. True story. Scott responds. [UPDATE 1: Gareth responds further, and talks libel. Pillock. And then deletes most of Scott’s comments. UPDATE 2:  Whale Oil manages to harvest Scott’s main comment before Captain Morgan’s deletion.  UPDATE, ROUND 3: Liberty Scott responds to the libel threat and deletions.]

“The ordeal of David Miranda – the partner of Guardian columnist Glenn Greenwald detained at London’s Heathrow Airport, interrogated for nine hours, and forced to surrender his electronic devices (some of which allegedly contained documents leaked to Greenwald by the former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden)– is a shocking demonstration of the changed climate surrounding the press. So is the fact that state officials threatened Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger with criminal charges and forced Guardian employees to destroy computer equipment at the newspaper’s offices. But what is most shocking is that all of this happened in the United Kingdom.”

“The full-court press is on. Gareth talks libel? oh! rejoice!

Yes! yes! - accept his offer to sue you.

I know just the Barrister; a chap who hates Gareth with a passion and would love to rip him to pieces in Court.
Let's nip Mr Morgan in the bud once and for all.

Let's introduce NZ to what Mr Morgan is 'really' like - all those dirty, pervy little secrets he thinks no one knows about and to his horror suddenly finds himself cross examined on - in the full glare of the media bench. And Mrs Morgan.

Bring it on Gareth!

Gareth says he 'doesn't suffer fools' in his reply to Liberty Scott, and that he won't be insulted, then proceeds to hurl insults himself.
ie, play the man rather than the ball, which rather underlines the fact that he's on very thin ice & is outgunned.

Wisdom is supposed to come with old age, but there are exceptions it seems...

WhaleOil did not harvest Liberty Scott's deleted comments on Gareth's blog. Liberty Scott submitted a number of well-thought out comments that were visible late last night NZ time but this morning were deleted by Gareth. A couple of Scott's comments remain but not all.

Having now learned how to rewrite history by editing the comments field to his blog, Gareth could perhaps move onto writing for the Standard(less).

Mr Lineberry - Yes, hilarious. Libel for saying he didn't read any books on a topic? He is insinuating I said he denied the gulags. I didn't, I implied he didn't know about them. Hardly libel.

However, certainly an unhinged rant.

I suspect he will ignore me off of his own blog, although others should certainly chime in. The latest post has mostly comments of the "well done, amazing" variety.

Again the MSM hasn't noticed.

B Whitehead said...

At this point we have Gareth's word that he has read some books on the topic,
That assurance isn't worth much..

Reading the last weeks posts in the wrong order was quite interesting:

Read the article on the Nazi propaganda, and pay attention to the various propaganda elements that gets mentioned.

Then watch the top Gear segment.

Note, I am not calling Clarkson a Nazi or comparing the UK to WWII Germany.

But isn't this ok? ... changing the meaning of a word by government decree?
