Quote of the day: Christopher Hitchens, (13 April 1949 – 15 December 2011)

"My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to
have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere,
any place, any time. And anyone who disagrees with this
can pick a number, get in line and kiss my ass.”

- Christopher Hitchens, Free Speech Debate at University of Toronto, 2006

From "Letters To A Young Contrarian"

"They proceed from conclusion to evidence; our greatest resource is the mind, and the mind is not well-trained by being taught to assume what has to be proved."

"They" are those who place their destinies in faith in invisible umpires.

Hitchens' death is truly saddening for he was a man of vision while maintaining a caustic perception of those who fail to ponder.
