Louis Sullivan: the Struggle for American Architecture

Here's a trailer for new film worth seeing: a feature-length documentary that tells the story of revolutionary Chicago architect Louis Sullivan (1856-1924), one of my very favourite architects – his work, his rapid and early success, and the reasons behind his tragic decline.

Wonderful find! Thanks for putting that up PC.

And what a contrast to the Soviet Concrete Cube school of architecture, eh? His work celebrates life, not power.

I know that Sullivan is big in Chicago, but I'm planning a trip to NY & possibly Chicago in the next year or so; so can anyone tell me the best time of the year to visit these two cities, and if you guys know of any official architectural tours, or of course is it best just to gawk upwards and do it oneself?

Look up the Chicago Architectural Foundation for tours.
