Pope Benedict quoted 14th-century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus who said,
Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."No he didn't!" denied jihadists in unison, who called on the sword to be taken to the Pope.
The irony seems to escape them.

PC, I can't decide which of the two images you attach to this post is the more horrific ... men, unmasked, fist-waving, faces full of venom - and women, masked, fist-waving, faces (undoubtedly) full of venom.
Oh my goodness.
These photos are summed up well by this quote from George Mason at:
http://www.6thcolumnagainstjihad.com/
"Enraged Muslims - this is their base-line state. Of course they are enraged. They are like a lightening in a storm looking for a rod on which to discharge. The so-called "sources" for their chronic rage are so numerous that one must look beneath the myriad "causes" to find the cause of causes. In their case, it is their profound hatred of reality, of which life is a part. Reality just will not obey them, so they long for non-reality (death), while hating everything that exists. We are in the process of laying out on our website how the normal child born into Islamia becomes so deformed; it happens very early in childhood, which is a major reason so many Westerners have such trouble understanding the mental dynamics of Islam. There are discrete stages in this deformative process. By adolescence, all that is left for Islam to do is to focus the rage. Thus, out come the active jihadis with the support of the rest, the passive jihadis."
Surely the contradiction on the 'jhadists' outrage is plainly obvious . . . ? ?
And again, the Pope has apologised. It only makes Muslim think that they can pressure the West to surrender all the times. I am sure that Ruth did love to hear the Pope applogised.
I think the Pope has chosen his words quite well. He regrets any offence, but has not officially withdrawn or apologised.
I would regret any offense also, regrettable that someone would take offence to something that was not intended to be offensive.
The insane violent anger of a mob driven by a commitment to the irrational and the immoral.
First novelists then cartoonists and now religious leaders are silenced. Can anyone see a trend?
The countries of Europe, Asia and South America are probably ok with this sort of censorship but it is highly alien to the nations of the Anglosphere. For a long time we have had the right to lampoon anyone we wanted to and the Islamicists are trying to take that fundamental freedom away. Few people seem to realize what a great freedom this is.
angloamerican, I support your comments entirely. It is a sad day indeed when humanity cannot take the piss out of itself.
