Becky wants to knock her school down

A young Irish girl has the solution for all those horrible factory schools: knock the buggers down. She's making a start on her own school in Dublin: "Can you make sure all me teachers are inside when you knock it down . . . nobody likes them . . . But tell me, when the school falls down, will it make a crash or a wallop?" "As we say in Belfast, it'll make a big beng!" Listen here. Priceless. [Comes courtesy of the Edge radio station.]

If only young Becky went to a decent school: maybe one like the Hershey Montessori Farm School in Ohio; or Athena Montessori College in Wellington. Ah well. At least the pur wee t'ing has a solution.

Lucky she's not in NZ, she'd be done for Sedition.

I met a whole bunch of the Athena staff on my Workplace First Aid course; a bunch of funny, personable and friendly people.

"Athena Montessori College is a professional school and the students are expected to work a 40 hour week. Normal school hours are from 9:00am to 3:30pm which represents a 33 hour week."

Doesn't sound a soft option to me :-)

It gets me so pissed off when I think about the monotony and stagnation of public schools. And whenever someone thinks of something innovative to do, it has trouble fitting into the bureaucratic system which kills any new ideas in education (doesn't comply, ya know).
