""So why are energy policies of leading Western countries afflicted by magical thinking and irrationality?"

"What leads a country to begin winding down domestic oil and gas production while promoting the use of imported wood – a wasteful and inefficient fuel — for power generation?
"What leads policymakers to shut down a nation’s last and still-functional coal generating power plant after almost 150 years of using coal and within months arrive at a situation where blackout prevention notices have to be issued to its power generators?
"The UK is by no means the only Western country to go down this perverse path of deindustrialisation and national economic suicide
"So why are energy policies of leading Western countries afflicted by magical thinking and irrationality? [Because] The Western World is in a hypnotic trance from 30 years of relentless propaganda pushing climate alarmism."

  1. My personal view is that the very few politicians and none of the bureaucracy have worked out in the real world. Their education wasn't in a true STEM subject. None have ever done a trade. They go straight from university to a white collar job. That means they have little or no knowledge of how things actually work.
I know from actual experience that very few people have any understanding of how electricity system works. Even basic concepts are beyond them. And because they don't understand that, they get seduced by the snakeoil salespeople pushing unreliables as the saviour of mankind.

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
