"MMP was sold to the electorate on the promise that both votes, the electorate vote for the candidate and the Party vote would be of equal value. "That, of course, was never the case. In reality there is only one vote the matters and that is the Party vote.... "What MMP does is to transfer the power away from the electorates (the people) to the Party elite who effectively control the Party List rankings. "To my mind this is highly undemocratic."
