"Cancel culture" v liberal culture

You may have noticed the increasingly common trend to shout down, 'de-platform' and 'cancel' adversaries instead of debating them. Sometimes called "cancel culture," the trend is thoroughly illiberal, as philosopher Stephen Hicks confirms in this tabulation of contrasts between the two cultures:
