"As a result of reading West’s book, I now look on the United States as a big dumb ox, led around by a cabal of its enemies whose intent is to take the beast out to slaughter. It is a very large beast and will not go quietly. But given what you will learn from this book, you will be in some despair in trying to work out what can be done. This is a very troubling book which I nevertheless encourage you to read."
~ Steven Kates, from his book review of Diana West's American Betrayal

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
Who does the author allege are the enemies of America?
ReplyDeleteNever mind. I read a summary. The enemies are mostly the socialists since 1900. Of course. The problems never started with the founders. George Washington didn't continue enslaving anyone literally, and he didn't enact a tax on whiskey three times that of the tax on tea that he revolted over. ho hum. :P
