Clarke – for those who don’t know him, he was author of 2001: A Space Odyssey – describes the internet, telling Australian television that by 2001 every household will have a computer and be connected all over the world, allowing you to work and live wherever you like. “He’ll take it as much for granted as we take the telephone.”
