Brilliant?! I don't think so. Compare it to Newberry - Rockwell looks like the paint by numbers stuff I used to do as a kid. It's lifeless and certainly not great art - let alone brilliant IMO.
I'll take my Newberry anyday - wouldn't out his on the wall if you paid me.

Yes, I can see that -- and Rockwell is certainly no Newberry -- but as Nick Provenzo's analyses demonstrate, there is a world of meaning invested in Rockwell's apparently simple illustrations.
We welcome thoughtful disagreement. But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane or off topic.
