The Treaty was one of nine guiding principles in the previous curriculum adopted in 1993, which explained that the Treaty recognised "the unique position of Maori in New Zealand society".Not any more -- at least, not in the draft. No surprise to find that some people are upset that "the unique position of Maori in New Zealand society" may not be taught to impressionable youngsters. But those people are not racists. Oh no.
