Who ate all the biscuits?

One present fashionable concern is obesity. For most of history the very real concern was malnutrition. Lift your eyes occasionally and see things in a historical context, and you realise some fashionable concerns actually incorporate something to celebrate.

As a reminder of just how recent were these concerns, here's an actual New York Times ad from June 27, 1906 [hat tip Craig Depken at Division of Labour]:TAGS: Health, History

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane or off topic. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
