I have tried explaining this to folks on all sides of the political spectra. I think this belief is related to another that I've seen: The inability to grasp the fact that the success of one's party isn't inevitable. In other words: People honestly cannot comprehend the idea that they may lose an election. This goes beyond the "The Russians hacked ups!" nonsense; it's a deeply seated concept that Our Side always--ALWAYS--wins.
We welcome thoughtful disagreement. But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me. PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
