We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane or off topic. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
Substitute any country's name/s in that paragraph and it will be true. However, taking the statement as it's intended: The US looks to be on that trajectory; but China looks more like it'll continue with state corporatism rather than a free - Capitalist - society for a long time yet.
ReplyDeleteI beg to differ. having been doing business in China since 2007. The Chinese need free market/Capitalism to drag even more of their population out of poverty. If they go back to the ""old"" model there will be severe civil unrest.
DeleteWell yes they need it, but there, like Vietnam for example, the people seem to be amenable to a deal with the devil. While it may not go back to the 'old' model, there's a transactional relationship with the state. Having lived there myself anecdotally the average punter told me this when asked. I hope for the best, but I have a nagging doubt this will change anytime soon.
