The Government “opened the books” yesterday to forecast that taxing until it hurts will, this year, see $3.7 billion more ripped from your pockets than is spent.
Which has seen both BlueTeam and Red Team begain their advance auction of these over-stolen goods: the Blue Team are offering more roads and stadia, more boot camps and “social “investment” – on top of some unspecified increase (at some ill-specified time in the future) in middle-class welfare; the Red Team meanwhile are “putting more emphasis on investing in health, social and education investment [sic]” and a dismally dangled carrot of “free tertiary education policy which would not be fully implemented until 2025.”
Have these misbegotten sadists forgotten from whence this “wealth” has come?
Yes. Yes, of course they have.

They took more than they needed.
Wouldn’t it be nice if, instead of arguing how they should all spend it and on what electoral bribes, they simply gave it back?

Meanwhile, I'm STILL struggling to get my brewery/taproom open here in Hamilton and am over $25k in the hole to various grey-one imposed compliance fees and consultants to facilitate interactions with said grey-ones. But sure. Take more of my money. After all, I'm getting so much value for it.

ReplyDeleteMake no mistake. There is no surplus - its money just not spent yet but spend it they will. There is also a smidgeon of debt to be repaid as well.
ReplyDeleteMy concern is more about the waste, feel good but ineffective social policy and lack of economic reform that prevents the surplus being larger and the government smaller.
