As a thank you to all the beer historians who passed on information about Woodville’s Kauri Brewery and its Kauri Pale Ale, my painter friend Mark Wooller—who was particularly interested in the Gauguin connection—has painted a bottle for us, which now hangs proudly on my wall.
Sadly, however, it’s empty.
Still, since my photos of the small paintings are a bit lacklustre, by the magic of technology I can immediately double the number of bottles. Take your pick.

ReplyDeleteNot so modern. The brewery closed just after World War II--and Gauguin was apparently drinking it between 1897 and 1903.
