At some stage in their lives every thinking person has to read the 'complete collection of classic dystopian novels.' There are many pretenders, but this is the core list:
- Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley
- 1984, by George Orwell
- Utopia, by Thomas More
- Clockwork Orange, By Anthony Burgess
- Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury
- We, by E.I. Zamyatin
- Anthem, by Ayn Rand
If you haven't already, check them out when you get the chance.
If you were adding films to the list, you could probably add "Se7en", which is a dark and dismal look at a society in decay.

How about The Handmaid's Tale from Margaret Atwood? Probably not quite in the same class as the ones you list, but perhaps worth an honourable mention.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you want to read something abit more contemporary check out "The Road" Cormac McCarthy. It definately deserves a place in the list.
