Today's Bible reading: Great deeds of David

It's Sunday, so it's time for another uplifting Bible reading. Today, the story of how David bought his first wife with 200 foreskins hewn from dead Philistines.
And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.... And when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well.... Wherefore David ... slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king.... And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife. [1 Samuel 28:25-27]
The Bible. Full of good rules for living.

  3. Good post but you miss the point here. Saul didn't want David to marry his daughter, so he set up a task whereby there was a better than even chance that David got killed. David harvesting 200 rather than 100 was just a varation of that age old game between potential fathers and sons in law. Who do you think played better in this case

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane or off topic. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
