Rodin's 'Eternal Spring'

Auguste Rodin's 'Eternal Spring,' from 1903. This particular piece is a small bronze casting, just 40cm high.

  1. I wonder if that was a study for The Kiss. There are certainly similarities, such as the, umm, kissing. Don't spose you know do you?

  2. I think it was of a piece with The Kiss, but it was a piece in its own right. It's hard to see The Kiss for its own virtues now -- like Michaelangelo's David it's almost become a cliche with over over-appearance in the oddest places -- but this one is much more dynamic; I find The Kiss a little less, um, dynamic. :-)

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
