I have some personal experience with "integrating" some of these jokers (talking 20 yrs ago here), and I can tell you, it is NOT going to happen in the way the lefties think. Even if failure of all the outside joints would have been possible as per your scenario, the inner core would have been able to carry the outside of the structure above the impact levels, at least for some amount of time. The core would then have buckled, and not collapsed into its own footprint with the speed of a free falling object.Berryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03208575304505689135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11906042.post-71429749527474684132009-09-11T14:18:51.170+12:002009-09-11T14:18:51.170+12:00The towers are overwhelming "in person"....The towers are overwhelming "in person". That doesn't mean it was under-sized. It means it was a good thing.

The joints that I understand failed were the outer joints, where the floor trusses joined to the outer 'tube.' They didn't fail because of the impact, or even because the whole side of the building at several levels was ripped out. They failed because the steel at these joints was softened by a full planeload of burning aviation fuel running down the perimeter like a welding torch, which eventually softened several floors enough to begin collapsing onto the floor(s) below . . and so the whole cataclysmic collapse began.

AKAIK, there'd be very few joints in the world that could put up with that.

MAJESTY: I think it was both size and the design.
