Parents who give a tinkers about teir children are home schooling or Motessori-ing their children. Those children are going to have a huge advantage over their intellectually-child-abused peers.

Meanwhile the rest, including the children of the "educationalists" themselves, get left further and further behind- intellectualy crippled from inception. As the socialist educationalists receed into retirement and drop off, their replacement are less and less functional- idiots indeed, but not even useful idiots, mere meat.

Worry not about it, not unless you have your children at what passes as conventional schooling.

Amit Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11906042.post-41516188844435752732013-03-05T22:33:03.112+13:002013-03-05T22:33:03.112+13:00OMG This is utterly tragic. I knew anecdotally that education standards in the west have been declining for 25 years.... but this has brought it into stark focus for me.

As a recent grandfather I can only fear for what the future holds for children today. It was bearable when threats were external like wars, drugs and so on, but now their very minds are being hollowed out and filled with shit and the poor little mites will have no defence against that.

Dave MannAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11906042.post-45952852737139733022013-03-05T20:21:12.019+13:002013-03-05T20:21:12.019+13:00Maths aren't the only thing the current educat...Maths aren't the only thing the current education ideology has bungled. Common sense tells us that if you are reading and don't know what the words your reading mean, how can you understand what's being said. When Tomorrows Schools was introduced that was no longer important.

James Cattel
"One of these advances was called “Whole Word” developed by James Cattel, [another Wundt disciple] who was once the President of the American Psychological Association.
Phonetics was ignored and children were forced to memorize nearly every word without understanding the logical sequence of the letters or sounds. Over the years the concept has worn many labels.
Look-say in the 1960’s “psycho-linguistics” in the 1970’s, and “Whole language “in the 1980’s
Where once “Phonetics” was practiced eg. learning the sounds of letters, the breakdown of words and thus learning pronunciations and how to spell.
Children were now taught to look at the word as a whole and learn it practically parrot fashion without comprehending it. This is called “whole word” method. It also comes under other names.
http://www.rehabilitatenz.co.nz/pages/excerpts-educations-ruin.htmlKevin Owenhttp://www.psychosomatic-healing.co.nznoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11906042.post-54715363294447314702013-03-05T14:10:47.151+13:002013-03-05T14:10:47.151+13:00What the maths champion means is that people, incl...What the maths champion means is that people, including children, learn from their successes, not their mistakes, contrary to conventional wisdom about learning from mistakes.

He correctly pointed out that children need to learn very basic numeracy and feel the success.
