"The strongest weapon against hateful speech, is not repression, it is more speech" #QotD

Rowan Atkinson on hate speech and the victimhood industry:

Has New Zealand learned nothing from overseas kneejerks? From places where they have already imposed censoriousness of the most intimidating kind -- "guaranteed to have a chilling effect on free expression and free protest."

  1. The trouble is, it isn’t a knee jerk. It is the taking advantage of an opportunity.

  2. I agree with Richard. Victimhood Culture (which our mainstream society is in the thick of, tell me I'm wrong) does not respond to fear (which our Victimhood Culture doyens are well and truly in the grip of atm) by such Dignity Culture means as Lord Blackadder here.

No, the means of production for Victimhood Cultures under threat consist of making sacrifices to the enemy they are afraid of. Paying tributes in the hopes of staving off retaliation. Anything White or Right or Traditional or Protective is being hunted down and sacrificed by the VC Left in order to buy-off the Boogieman. If there were a Minotaur on White Island our so-called leaders would send a group of our best youths to die for the tribe on an annual basis- it's been done before though I forget where I read that...Ayn Rand?

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
