Hi Peter,

I am off topic, but what are the current laws in NZ pertaining to the use of the word Architect .
Can a person with a NZ(Arch) D (and qualified ) who also holds a B(Arch)hons from NZ
use the word Architect in anyway at all?
Architect (without the Registered NZIA)
Also can the same person above who has an acculmuated work experience (working for NZ who are Registered Architects), of 3-4 yrs (get automatic) registration?

Thanks Peter

Cheri

Hi Cheri, No, registration is not automatic. Even with a B.Arch(Hons), the person would need to submit a portfolio and endure in an interview with the registration board before being registered. The NZIA and AERB websites would have details.

Hi Cheri, No, I'm afraid not, which is stupid. Yet further stupidity: the recent changes to the so-called Architects Ethics mean that an architectural office run by registered architects would contravene those alleged ethics by calling such a person employed by them an architect.
