Banning books

See, here’s the thing. If you don’t like a child’s book, then just don’t buy it for your child.

Simple, huh?

Don’t ask for the government to do your parenting for you. Or demand it parent your neighbours.

And if you don’t like a bookseller selling it, then tell them – or don’t patronise them.

Don’t ask for the government to do your nannying for you.

Don’t ask it to ban, banish, censor or “age-rate” it.

Don’t pretend your children haven’t heard those words before.

Don’t pretend they won’t find those naughty words by simply Googling.

And don’t pretend they wouldn’t hear worse stories every week at Sunday School.

  1. I got a good laugh out of this nonsense. Do the muppets from Family First seriously think people who want the book won't buy (or otherwise acquire) it online? Or does Bob McCoskrie own shares in Amazon?

We welcome thoughtful disagreement.
But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me.
PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
