Gregory Ain was an apprentice to Richard Neutra, and a Mid-Century Modern master in his own right.
A unit in Ain’s Los Angeles Avenel Housing Cooperative, built in 1947, has now come on the market, and this 100 square metre townhouse can be picked up for the bargain price of just US$650,000.
What I like about most is its flexibility, hinted at in the above two pics and in the plans below—and too little seen in New Zealand apartments and townhouses--using sliding partitions in its small space to allow residents to configure it into one, two, or three bedroom arrangements as their life situation changes. Just perfect for long-term tenancies.
