I had the pleasure of seeing the Rodin exhibition in Washinton about 30 yrs ago. They had collected his works from around the world - 'The Burghers of Calais', 'The Walking Man', 'The Thinker', etc. It was a very, very pleasurable 8 hours I spent soaking the senses with this incredible man's art.
Have you read 'Naked came I' (David Weiss?) - a dramatised story of Rodin's life?
We welcome thoughtful disagreement. But we do (ir)regularly moderate comments -- and we *will* delete any with insulting or abusive language. Or if they're just inane. It’s okay to disagree, but pretend you’re having a drink in the living room with the person you’re disagreeing with. This includes me. PS: Have the honesty and courage to use your real name. That gives added weight to any opinion.
:-) I can't work out why but my reaction to great art is always a big, wide grin of pure delight. And Rodin does it most reliably.
ReplyDeleteThank you PC.
If that's at the Gates of Hell I'd better get busy and sin some more. Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea, anyway...
ReplyDeleteKG,
That's you, embracing the joyous, the life-enhancing. Go for it!
Once again, thanks for the art & architecture posts, Peter. They're most appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thanks. You're very welcome. :-)
