Crikey, my posts on religion at NOT PC have caught the eye of some unusual readers over the last few years. Here's the latest speaking invitation to appear in my inbox:
The Second International Conference on Religion and Media will be held in Tehran and Qom, Iran, from November 9th to 12th, 2008. We cordially invite all media researchers and scholars, representatives from diverse religious traditions, professionals and students involved with the subjects of the conference to attend and submit a paper. Further information could be found at conference website: http://www.religion-media.ir/
A few scholarships are available to partially subsidize the costs of participants with selected papers.
Sincerely,
Mahdiye Tavakol
Conference Coordinator

What topic suggestions do you have for a paper?
You should submit a paper called "10 Steps to Abolishing Islam"...
ReplyDeleteFrom David Low to the Mohammad cartoons. How seventy years of media cartoons have upset dangerous cranks.
ReplyDeleteYou could just do a presentation on Objectivisim?

ReplyDeletePC, at least you don't get invited to a UN woman's conference in the Philippines about "Women and Climate Change" and a 22 page Word document on it...
ReplyDeleteHave you Callum?
ReplyDeleteYes I have, hanso.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it arrived in my spam folder, I don't think it's someone trying to play a game -I don't think that a scammer would write out a 22 page invitation just to get someone in NZ to believe there's a UN conference in the Philippines.
I wanted to Qom, but there were Tehranical Mullahs there so Iran away
