David Farrar's inner authoritarian comes out again. Consumers are being "forced" to buy multiple devices just to view all the free to air channels. Thunders David (I'm a libertarian) Farrar,
"It shouldn’t be allowed..." If a channel is free to air, one should be able to tune your device to receive it.

Sheesh. At least when Jim Neanderton insists on a "right" to free-to-air TV he's honest enough to call himself a socialist.
I had to buy multiple devices to watch stuff too. They are called television sets.
ReplyDeleteHow can he cope with Britain, there is NO platform on which you can get all TV channels. You would be "forced" to get a Sky dish, Virgin media cable TV, Freeview box and Tiscali TV via IP box - the tragedy of it all. The next complaint will be not getting Air NZ airpoints when flying on other airlines!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, this is another example of a "free" service that is anything but free (AFAIK, at least) - doesn't TVNZ receive taxpayer funding through NZ on air?
